Meet BUK Lecturer who won £970,000 award

Dr. Sulaiman Sadi Ibrahim, a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano has won the prestigious Wellcome Trust Career Development Award of the United Kingdom worth £969,680. Ibrahim, who was a Wellcome Trust fellow between 2017-2019, became the first Nigerian to receive the award because of the comprehensive, functioning molecular biology laboratory he created in a public university in northern Nigeria. The funds, which is about N500 million, is to carry out a project spanning eight years to improve the infrastructural capacity in Nigeria; and support both undergraduates and postgraduate students.
